Models produced were the 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, and the 7000(bass)and the Focus Classics I, II and III. Mine is in black, with cream-colored pickup covers. If you like the way it plays, then you might have scored a great guitar!
It feels great. We know this is early because it has the “classic” headstock, later changed to droopy “bananas.” These are early unlabeled pickups, possibly Gotoh, but who knows?
I owned a 1986 (?) And, if there’s a guitar story that’s full of more irony than that of Kramers guitars, I don’t know about it.
Final price will be $599 and include a custom gigbag. He needed money so he sold the Kramer brand and model names to Gibson. Thus debuted the Kramer Focus line, made in Japan, in 1983. Pre-87 Focus all had chrome hardware from the ESP factory.
Kramer, as you recall, began back in 1976 with the novel idea of building guitars with aluminum necks, sort of “improved” Travis Beans. The Classic I took over where the early Focus 4000 left off. The Floyd Rose on mine didn’t yet have the fine tuning screws on the bridge so it was hard to tune once you screwed down the nut.I had the exact one like that, unfortunately I had to sell it when I was broke in college back in 1985. Kramer Focus 4000 Post by kremark » Sat Jun 10, 2017 5:46 pm You probably know by now, but it's worth noting that the Focus 4000 not only had the asymmetric V body, but the rarest of headstock shapes ( in terms of pure numbers). In 1985, the Focus 4000 changed to the new Randy Rhoads shape. In yet another irony, a lot of Kramer Focus guitars have been parted out. It’s a knock-off of a Kramer guitar, but a copy of a Kramer made by Kramer itself. Back of neck has been worn.
Kramer designed but did not make its aluminum necks. It appears that in 1984 the Focus 4000 became a Pacer copy. The F series (post 87) had black from the factory. Not a big deal, but I'm still not convinced that is factory hardware, I suspect somebody just preferred a blacked-out look.
1980's Made in Japan Kramer Focus 3000 Non Tilt Banana Headstock Guitar Neck. ... how is it holy grail specs, I just take one look to my side see my non tilt look back and no... not even close, this is a focus nana non tilt. There was something about the RR influenced shape and the Ad in all the guitar mags for the Focus series at the time with EVH peeking in the window to watch the young guy play his Focus... Just made me want one although I Really wanted the Jackson RR. It had already sourced necks from ESP in Japan, as well as offered ESP’s Flicker vibrato system as an option.
Do you know of any for sale like this?I have this same guitar, with the same shaped headstock. Guitar has minimal damage to the finish.
Lots of guys on here know a ton more than me, so I'm sure they can tell you plenty.
The Focus series were modeled copies of the Pacer, Baretta, Vanguard and Voyager series. That’s why I love guitars like this 1983 Kramer Focus K4000. In yet another irony, a lot of Kramer Focus guitars have been parted out. Neck is original to body. Plate would've been chrome too.
Nor did the early ‘80s infatuation with what would become known as the “Superstrat.” The Kramer Pacer (1983), along with Dean’s Bel Aire, both vie for the status as the first production Superstrats, available in versions with humbucker/single/single pickups and the soon-to-be-ubiquitous locking vibrato system.By 1983 Kramer was doing well enough to consider expanding with some budget lines made in Asia. Production will be completed and ready to ship to you this fall!
The shape is not super rare, but yours is nice because often the sharp pointy corners are donked, chipped, broken. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully
You cant even see it unless you go close-up. Held-up throughout the years no problem at all. Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing.
